FAQ
Tips to get the most of your jam
REFRIGERATE
Always refrigerate any canned good after opening
SHELF LIFE
Unopened, jars are shelf stable for 1-3Â years depending on what's inside
Once opened, jars last 2-3 months
STIR
I always recommend stirring the jams and jellies before serving for a smooth texture and to evenly distribute fruit
(&it helps spread better)
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JAM, JELLY, BUTTERS AND MARMALADE
Jam is made with crushed fruit
Jelly is made only with the fruit juice
Butter consist of slow cooking the pulp, normally adding spices
Marmalade is preserves made with citrus that incorporates the rind
WHY ARE SOME JAMS THINNER THAN OTHERS?
The natural pectin content of fresh fruit varies, so the exact jam recipe made with different batches of fruit may vary in consistency,
they should taste the same
SEALING TECHNIQUE
I use the water bath method to seal each jarÂ
Jar lids should not pop when pressed if they are sealed correctly
